- Is this book similar or very different in the and tone to the first book? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
- Why were the flashbacks important? Do you think they could have been skipped? Why or why not?
- Did this book change your opinion on Margorim? Why or why not?
- Why do you think Burning is the title? What is it in the story that is burning? Is that good or bad?
- We get to finally meet our true villain in this book. Who do you think it is? Heklis or Emmerick?
- Emmerick is a unique character. What do you think of him? Why is he important?
- The process of establishing a new government is always complicated. What did you think of the plans and goals they set in this process? Do you agree or disagree with their approach?
- Aleph provides a more innocent look at how everyday people are affected by the war. Why do you think he's key to the plot?
- In your opinion, should Cedrick and Elphacena try to legally adopt Aleph? Why or why not? Why do you think they haven't yet?
